IMP
11— Soil &Groundwater Excavation Work Plan Advanced Environmental Concepts, Inc.
60
8015 modified, Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as diesel (TPH-d) and for volatile
aromatics(BTXE)by EPA method 8020. The gasoline samples will also be analyzed
for MTBE. The confirmatory soil samples will be analyzed on-site by a California
160 State Certified Mobile Laboratory;
5. Backfill the excavation with crushed rock, stockpiled clean fill, and sufficient borrow
6" import to bring the soil level to surface grade. The backfill will be compacted to a
minimum 90%to minimize subsequent soil settling;
60 6. Conduct landfarming and bio-remediation of the gasoline and diesel impacted soil
using a nutrient and microbe combination as promulgated by Solmar, Inc. a
manufacturer of microbial enzymes;
60 7. Collect confirmatory soil samples from the treatment pile at an average depth of three
feet below surface using a hand auger and drive sampler tool. One soil sample per
50-cubic yard increment will be collected on a grid pattern to ensure adequate
evaluation of soil treatment. Approximately twenty six confirmatory samples will be
4.0 necessary to evaluate the estimated 1,300 to 1,600-cubic yards of
excavated/expanded soil;
160 8. Grade the treated area upon successful mitigation of the hydrocarbon impacted soil;
9. Provide a written report detailing the excavation and soil remediation project,
including: 1) excavation methods, 2)soil sampling methods, 3) analytical results,4)
11-0 confirmatory soil sampling, 5) analytical results, 6) conclusions, and 7)
recommendations.
9-0
1.3 Schedule
AEC anticipates initiating the services described in this work plan within two weeks upon
approval by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division with the concurrence of
the RWQCB, and authority to proceed from Mr. Harris Sanders and Brian Hauss. The final
report of operations will be submitted to the client within one month after completion of the
.. described field work.
" 2.0 BACKGROUND
At the request of Prudential Agricultural Investments,AEC performed a Preliminary Site Assessment(PSA)on
a 729 acre agricultural parcel located approximately 6 miles southeast of Tracy, California during August and
September, 1996 The subject property, identified as Paulson Farms and located at 700 West Unne Road,is
currently owned by Mr. Robert Bogetti and Sons. This property is in foreclosure by Prudential. The 1996 PSA
was performed in order to identify existing environmental concerns at the subject site prior to finalizing
,r foreclosure proceedings.
Based on the results of the PSA,two former underground storage tank (UST) emplacements containing a total
of three UST's were identified in the compound area south of the residential dwelling in the central portion of
the property. The three UST's,formerly containing gasoline and/or diesel, had been excavated and removed
Project: AEC 97V-1805 2
V
.ENVIRONMENTAL CONCEPTS WITH DESIGN IN MIND
+ 4400 ASHE ROAD.9206 • BAKERSFIELD,CA 93313 8051831.1646 • FAX 8051831-1771
