An elongated in- <br /> ground drainage system was observed around the edges of the boiler.room(see Photo 17). <br /> a • Irrigation and storm water goes to a sump on the property (Figure 2; Photos 18 and 19). <br /> When the sump,located about 100 feet southwest of the former distillation tower,was filled, <br /> the water was pumped to the former fermentation building and stored in one of the former <br /> fermentation tanks. When work is completed on the new evaporation pond located at the <br /> southeast side of the property,the waste water will be pumped to the pond(Photo 20). <br /> ::, <br /> Items of potential environmental concern noted on the subject property at the time of the site visit <br /> include: <br /> • The presence of a distillation tower,presumably belonging to the former U.S.Gasohol plant. <br /> The tower was reportedly utilized during the distillation of gasohol. <br /> A sump located approximately 100 feet southwest of the distillation tower. <br /> / <br /> 7.0. PERSONAL INTERVIEW <br /> =� <br /> An AGE representativeinterviewed Litchfield <br /> eld of Copper Ente <br /> rprises, Inc., the property <br /> Mr. Don Litch <br /> owner, on July 20regarding the historical usage of the subject property. The fallowing <br /> =' information, to the best of his knowledge,was obtained during the interview: <br /> • The main buildings of the former Lockeford Winery were constructed in 1946.The property <br /> was ran as a winery until the 1970s,when it was bought and converted to a gasohol plant; <br /> this plant was eventually abandoned. <br /> • Mr. Litchfield has recently painted most of the structures. <br /> • All identified asbestos was removed by an appropriate contractor(see Appendix C). <br /> • The property receives its water from an <br /> industrial well <br /> and a domestic well located near the <br /> northeast corner of the property, near the main entrance. Mr. Litchfield believes that the <br /> water is clean;however, laboratory analysis of water samples have not been performed. <br />
