-JUL-10-1998 16:29 CAMBRIA 510 420 9170 P.03i22
Mr.Ron Rowe
CAMBRIA
July 10, 1998
Conduit Survey.Cambria reviewed utility maps of the storm sewer system, sanitary sewer system, and water
supply system supplied by the City of Ripon. This review.combined with a site visit, revealed the following
utilities in the area:
o Sanitary Sewer-A 6-inch VCP line runs along Frontage Road toward the intersection of East Main
Street at a depth of 5 to 7 ft below ground surface(bgs). A 10-inch VCP line runs along East Main
Street from a manhole in front of the%ite toward the intersection of Frontage Road and Exist Main
Street at a depth of 5 to 7 ft bgs. A 6-inch AC force main nuns west of the site then turns and nuns
along East Main at a depth of less than 5 ft bgs. A 18-inch VCP line approximately 1/4 mile east of
the site runs north-south along Manley Road at an approximate depth of 18 to 20 ft bgs.
o Storm Sewer-A 34-inch CP line runs from the southeastern corner of the site to the southeast across
the intersection of East Main Street and the Main Street overpass at a depth of less than 5 ft bgs.
o Water Supply-The water lines in the vicinity of the site are at an approximate depth of 3 ft bgs. An
8-inch transite pipe runs along East Main Street to Frontage Road, then bends and follows Frontage
Road to the northwest.
The only utility line that is deep enough to potentially act as a contaminant conduit is the sanitary sewer along
Manley Road. Copies of each of the City of Ripon utility maps are included as Attachment A_
well Survey.Cambria reviewed well information at the State of California Department of Water Resources,
San Joaquin County, and the City of Ripon. Cambria tabulated each well within%mile of the site(Table 1)
with all the relevant information that we were able to gather. Wells with a known location were plotted on
an fi Mile Radius Well Location Map(Figure 1).
Cambria was not able to find any specific information relating to the well located on the 333 East Main Street
property immediately west of the site, except that the well existed in the early 1960's when the present
property owner purchased the property. Cambria found construction details for a well owned by the State of
California along Highway 99,but it is unclear if that well log is for the CalTrans well located southeast of the
site. Cambria also located the well drillers reports for what appears to be a nest of two wells on Parallel
Avenue. which were installed as part of the Nestle's investigation. The Well Drillers Reports for the State
of Califomia well and the nested well on Parallel Avenue are included in Attachment B.
Cambria will continue to research other wells in the surrounding area. Cambria will perform a door-to-door
survey of properties along Parallel Avenue and any other areas that may have wells that could act as vertical
conduits for contaminants. Cambria will continue to attempt to procure construction details for the CalTrans
well. Cambria will review the SJCPHS riles for the Nestle's site as background.
2
