Geological Technic Inc.
Confirmation GW Sampling WP
Project No. 770.2
February 28,2011
collected from each borehole. The samples will be collected using small diameter poly
tubing with a Waterra® check-ball attachment and gently transferred into VOA vials.
-
Groundwater samples will be submitted to a California Certified Laboratory for the analyses
outlined in Section 2.5 below.
2.3 Conformational Groundwater Sampling(Water Supply Wells)
Per the SJC PHS/EHD directive dated January 11, 2011, confrmational groundwater
samples will be collected in the water supply wells within 600 feet of the site. As discussed
in Section 2.1 above, the number and location of water supply wells within 600 foot radius of
the release will be confirmed by review of DWR logs followed by site reconnaissance.
i
2.3.1 Groundwater Sampling Procedure
Before sampling is attempted, water supply well samplingports will be decontaminated in an
Alconox® solution and will be double-rinsed with de-ionized water. Water supply wells will
then be purged by activating their respective well pumps for ten to fifteen minutes prior to
sample collection.
Once purging is complete, a groundwater sample will be collected from the sampling port.
Care will be taken to minimize sample agitation. Once the sample container is filled and
capped, the bottle will be inverted, tapped and checked for;headspace bubbles. The sample
container will be identified and labeled with a unique designation, inserted into foam holders
and placed into an ice chest cooled to 4°C for transport to the laboratory.
Disposable gloves will be used by the sampling technician to collect all samples and will be j
changed with each sample collection.
A chain of custody document, listing all samples collected, will accompany the samples from
field to laboratory, thereby providing a means to track their movement and ensure their
i
integrity.
All water purged from the water supply wells will be considered unregulated material and
will be discharged to the land.
2.4 Conformational Groundwater Sampling (Monitoring Wells)
Per the SJC PHS/EHD directive dated January 11, 2011, conformational groundwater
-
- - W-7.
samples will be collected from MW-1, MW 4, MW 5, MW 6 and M t[-
i
Geological Tec&ks Inc. 5
7702 Confirmation GW Sampling 2-25-1 Ldoc
I ,
