The well is a 3/4-inch pre-packed well that was installed with a vibra-push drill
rig. This well was developed on April 16, 2001, and routine quarterly monitoring and
sampling of all wells was performed at the site on April 18, 2001.
Analytical results from the groundwater sampling event were positive for petroleum
hydrocarbons and methyl tertiary butyl ether (MtBE) in all wells, at quantities ranging
from 54 to 520 micrograms per liter (µg/I) total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline
(TPHg), and from 2 to 180,000 µg/I MtBE. The deepest screened well on site, MW-6,
which is screened from 65-75 feet below surface grade (bsg) has now been sampled
twice. Analytical results from the first sampling were non-detect for all constituents.
Results from the second event included 78 µg/I TPHg and 29 µg/I MtBE. In addition, the
measured depth to water in MW-6 has fluctuated greatly from that measured in the
shallow monitoring wells. In January 2001 the depth to water measured in MW-6
averaged six feet higher than in the shallow wells, and in April 2001 it averaged over five
feet deeper than in the shallow wells.
The submitted work plan addresses a directive from PHS/EHD to continue the
investigation of the lateral extent of the contaminant plume at this site, in both the
shallow and deep groundwater. The work plan has been approved by PHS/EHD in a
separate correspondence, and four more monitoring wells are to be installed. Two of the
wells will be screened'to monitor the shallow groundwater, and two will be screened in
the same deeper zone as MW-6.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
