` 1
page 2, 1196 Louise Ave.
The Report states that an 8-hour dual-phase extraction test.was conducted at the site in
February 2001, and that the results of the test indicate that remediation of the
groundwater contamination by dual phase vapor extraction would be a viable option for
this site. As stated in PHS/EHD correspondence dated April 23, 2001, a report of this
test has not been submitted to PHS/EHD for review. The Report further states that it is
the intent of Quik Stop Markets, Inc. to conduct similar 8-hour tests once a month, until a
permanent system is installed on site.
The work plan expresses the opinion of CCI "...that interim remediation of the shallow
aquifer should be initiated as soon as possible". As discussed in the April 23, 2001
correspondence, PHS/EHD appreciates the interim remediation efforts for plume.control
that Quik Stop Markets, Inc. has made to protect a nearby municipal well,-and agrees
that these interim measures should continue. Future plans for the site include the
monthly dual-phase extraction events, and conductance of a pumping test to determine
the radius of influence from the site extraction well. Following completion of the
definition of the contaminant plume and of the feasibility studies, a Corrective Action
Plan will be submitted to PHS/EHD for review.
If you have any questions or comments please call Lori Duncan at (209)468-0337.
Donna Heran, RENS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Cr L_
Lori Duncan, Senior REHS Dot Lofstrom, R.G.
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV Engineering Geologist
I
cc: Marty Hartzell, CVRWQCB i
George Yamashita, c/o Jeffrey Widman
Gary Mulkey, CCI
I
i
I
i
I
