• Performing Quarterly monitoring of the site by collecting groundwater
samples from the existing and proposed wells on a quarterly basis.
B. Site Location
The Stockton Service Center is"at the intersection of West Main Street and Los
f Angeles Avenue at 1804 West Main Street in Stockton, California.
C. Background
The District uses the Stockton Service Center as an operations and maintenance
yard. The Stockton Service Center contains several buildings used for offices,
maintenance garages, and storage. Formerly, three USTs and a pump dispenser were
located adjacent.to the shop and garage and were used for refueling vehicles. The
USTs were replaced by two above ground tanks.
D. Site History
In Jul 1987,y th e District removed one .1,000 gallon leaded gasoline UST from _
the Stockton Service Center. Petroleum hydrocarbons in excess of detection limits
were detected in the soil beneath the east end of the tank. A soil and groundwater
J
assessment performed by Kleinfelder, Inc. (Kleinfelder) in May 1989 revealed
petroleum hydrocarbons in excess of detection limits in soil and groundwater in the
vicinity of the former tank location. This assessment included the installation of three .
groundwater -monitoring wells, MW-1; MW72, and MW-3.and four soil borings, B-1,
.B-2, B-3, and B-4.
In September 1989 the District removed the two remaining USTs. No
P . g
indications of leakage from these tanks were observed and no petroleum hydrocarbons
in excess of detection limits were found in the soil beneath the tanks. These two
USTs were replaced with two above ground tanks.
In February 1991, Roy R Weston, Inc. (Weston) performed an additional
assessment of the site that included drilling four soil borings and completing each as
monitoring wells (MW-4, MW-5, MW-6, and MW-7). Toluene and lead were
detected in soil samples from all four borings while xylenes were detected in soil
samples from three of the four borings.
