INTENTIONAL TECHNOLOGY CORPORATION
2 . 2 HYDROGEOLOGY
The site is located at about 20 feet above mean sea level . It is
located in an almost flat area underlain by unconsolidated clay,
silt, and some sand which were deposited in flood basins (USGS
Professional Paper 1401-C) .
San Joaquin County maps (Flood Control and water Conservation
District, Spring 1990 and Fall 1990) indicate that groundwater
beneath the site rises to 50 feet (below ground surface) in the
spring and falls to 78 feet in the fall . Groundwater flows from
south-southeast to east seasonally. varying seasonally . Both
depth to groundwater and groundwater flow directions are strongly
influenced by groundwater withdrawal in the region .
2 . 3 HISTORY
BP Station 11190 was acquired from Mobile Oil in 1989 . The age
of the station is uncertain .
The station has four single wall fiberglass USTs (Figure 2) :
• Tank No . 1 - 12, 000 gallons unleaded
• Tank No . 2 - 10, 000 gallons unleaded
• Tank No . 3 - 6, 000 gallons leaded
• Tank No . 5 - 1, 000 gallons diesel
A fifth tank (Tank No . 4) containing used oil was removed in
1987 . Soil from the bottom of the excavation contained no
hydrocarbons at the level of detection .
Inspection records note that tanks 2 and 5 failed pressure tests
and that the diesel fuel dispenser (located on the eastern end of
the outer pump island) had a cracked impact housing dispenser.
On the basis of these results, an Underground Storage Tank
Unauthorized Release (leak) Contamination Site Report was filed
in December 1988 with San Joaquin County Public Health Services .
2
MA:ENG : 9284MER/050691
