2373 Mariposa Road August 16, 1999 Pro ect 9688 Page 2 <br /> The site and surrounding area are all essentially level and are at an <br /> approximate elevation of 27 feet Mean Sea Level (MSL) The surrounding <br /> area is rural with several industrial type facilities scattered throughout There <br /> is an industrial facility directly to the east of the site <br /> A Site Plan, Figure 2 of Appendix A, shows the area of the tank removal <br /> excavation, nearby buildings and property lines <br /> Directly to the southeast of the site is another industrial facility It's precise <br /> business is unknown, but there is a pump island which has several fuel <br /> dispensers on it The pump island is within 15 feet of the site and appears to <br /> be serviced by three underground storage tanks within 10 feet of the site At <br /> the time of the WDE drilling and sampling episode, there were several areas <br /> of stained pavement and ponded diesel fuel, all within 5 feet of the property <br /> line The approximate location of the pump islands and stained and ponded <br /> areas are shown on Figure 3 of Appendix A <br /> There is also a monitoring well on the adjacent property In the company of <br /> ' Mr Infurna, the well was sounded and the water level was determined to be <br /> 58 75 feet below the casing top The purpose of the monitoring well was <br /> unknown, but the facility manager or owner indicated that there were plans <br /> to close the well <br /> bf <br /> Site Plan <br /> ' The subject site along with the various buildings and the estimated locations <br /> of the tanks and previous samples and borings are shown on the Site Plan, <br /> Figure 2 of Appendix A Figure 3 of Appendix A shows the WDE boring and <br /> the pertinent fuel Mems on the adjacent property The Site Plan also shows <br /> the nearby streets <br /> Site History <br /> Two underground gasoline storage tank (one 500 gallon and one 1,000 gallon) <br /> ' were located at the site Research indicates that the tanks were installed by a <br /> previous tenant of the site at an unknown date The tanks were removed in <br /> either 1986 or 1987 but the operations were not witnessed by the EHD or any <br /> other regulatory agency <br /> In 1991 in order to comply with regulations, three samples were taken from <br /> the tank removal excavation and one from soil stockpiled on site On October <br /> 15, 1991, the sampling was carried out under the observation of EHD Specifics <br /> of the October 15, 1991 sampling episode are attached in Appendix B The <br /> locations of the three excavation samples are shown on the attached Figure 2 <br /> The reason for the analyses selected was not discerned <br /> WILLIAM DUBOVSKY ENVIRONMENTAL <br />
