LIGHT, AIR & SPACE CONSTRUCTION
ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES COMPANY
State Contractor's License Number 445403
State EPA R.E.A.Number 04072
The excavation will generate approximately(150) cubic yards of affected soil. The
affected soil will be placed at the proposed bio-remediation work area in a layer
approximately one (1) foot thick and treated with appropriate bacteria to accelerate the
degradation of the petroleum constituents.
The excavation will be backfilled to grade with native soil taken from other locations on
the subject property. The soil will be placed in twelve (12) inch thick lifts and
mechanically compacted to a relative 90% compaction density.
Item 3:
Approximately three-hundred (300) cubic yard of affected soil will be bio-remediated on
La the subject site. The soil will be placed in a pad approximately eighty(80) feet wide and
one-hundred (100) feet long with an approximate thickness of twelve(12) inches. A soil
berm will be placed around the soil pad to prevent any runoff from the treatment pad
from leaving the area. The soil will be treated with a commercially prepared bacteria
solution that will sprayed on the soil and the soil will then be roto-tilled. The soil will be
treated up three(3) times with the bacteria solution over a period of three(3) to six (6)
weeks. The soil will be kept moist and will be turned weekly.
The soil will be sampled a rate of one (1) soil sample every fifty(50) cubic yards to show
successful remediation of the petroleum contaminants. When the soil has been
successfully remediated, it will be spread out and left on the subject site.
Item 4:
Three(3) groundwater monitoring wells will be installed near the former UST# 1
location and three(3) additional groundwater monitoring wells will be installed
near the former UST#2 location. The purpose of these groundwater monitoring wells
. will be to triangulate the groundwater flow in the area of each of the former USTs and to
ascertain whether the groundwater in the vicinity of the former UST locations has been
impacted by the release of petroleum contaminants into the soil. Appropriate well
r- installation permits will be obtained prior to the construction of the groundwater
monitoring wells.
The groundwater monitoring wells will be installed, developed and sampled. If the water
samples are free of any petroleum contaminants, LA&S will, in the initial groundwater
monitoring well sampling report, propose closing the groundwater monitoring wells. If
petroleum contaminants are found in the groundwater, at a minimum, additional quarterly
sampling will be proposed, and/or other appropriate measures as may be required by the
t..
local regulatory agencies.
June 15, 2005 Page 4 of 5
MAIN OFFICE • 1707 LITTLE ORCHARD STREET,SUITE A•SAN JOSE•CA•95125
160 MAILING ADDRESS.P.O.Box 36303•SAN JOSE a CA•95158-6303•
4081979-0661 OFFICE•408/979-0621 FAX•408/640-2899 CELL PHONE•DGUTHRIDGE@LIGHTAIRANDSPACE.COM E-MAIL
GENERAL AND ENGINEERING CONTRACTOR•HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCE REMOVAL CONTRACTOR•SITE ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMEN'T'S
WETLAND AND RIPARIAN HABITAT-ASSESSMENT-DESIGN-RESTORATION-CONSTRUCTION-MITIGATION MONITORING
