PWI's acceptance
criteria for this waste stream as non-hazardous is that the
material meets non-RCRA definition outlined in California Title
22 guidelines for hazardous waste.
' If the material cannot be classified as a non-RCRA waste
stream, then it will be disposed of at PWI as a hazardous waste.
' TANK PERIMETER EXCAVATION
Upon completion of residual content removal activities, OHM
will excavate around the perimeter of the tank sidewalls in
preparation of sidewall removal (Figure 2-2) . The outer'.sidewall
perimeter will be sloped back at a 1:1 incline to allow access
into the tank during removal activities. An access ramp will be
located at one end at a 2: 1. slope for ease of equipment movement
into the tank floor.
I
Removed soil will be staged adjacent to the excavation
1 perimeter along the southern and eastern sides of the tank.
Contaminated soil encountered will be place' d' on visqueen in a
designated staging area prior to loading into haul trucks for
' off-site removal. Exposed tank perimeter lines will be cut and
removed to'the metal staging area for subsequent preparation andP11 `=
off-site disposal. Underground utilities will be marked and/or
' blinded prior to commencement of excavation activities to expose
the- outer sidewalls.
' INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL SIDEWALL ""OVAL
Once the tank perimeter has been excavated, OHM will proceed
with removal of the sidewalls. Starting at the ramp end, the
' exterior wall will be cut into three sections for removal from
the tank area. The sidewalls will be cut by use of a gas powered
254
