Samples will be collected from beneath each individual'
a compartment as required by the SJCEHD. Samples will be collected
at the extreme ends of each compartment and from the approximate
'L ycenter area of each compartment. Samples will be collected
approximately 12-24 inches below the bottom of the removed tank
compartments in undisturbed native soil.
. Sample analysis performed will include total extractable
' petroleum hydrocarbons (TEPH) and benzene, toluene, xylene and
ethyl benzene (BTXE) constituents in accordance with minimum
. laboratory verification analysis for oil as set by the SJCEHD.
Additional sample analysis will be performed only as required by
the SJCEHD upon request. All sample analysis .will be performed
by ETC Multi-Tech Laboratories located in Santa Rosa, California.
Analysis will be performed on a normal 10-working day turnaround
' basis,
SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION
SURFACE SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION
4 N r:br7 rOr-1 ""tv RFo_ sI►"+s-rn1(i .
The following procedures will be followed during the
i collection of surface soil samples from depths of 0 to 6 inches:
o The sample location will be carefully cleared of
debris, pebbles, and other obstructions.
o One 6-inch long clean brass tube will be placed in the
core soil sampler and the core soil sampler will be
' assembled and attached to hammer device.
o The sampling assembly will be lowered to the surface
' sample point, it will be driven into the soil manually
using a slide hammer device, and then retrieved from
the hole.
' o The core soil sampler will be dismantled and the sample
recovery will be noted.
' a If collecting of the sample is not possible, an
alternate sample location as near to the original
sample location will be chosen and documented.
I
258
