First Quarter 1995 Status Report 4
• Golden Grain Company, Manteca Bean Facility,229 Moffat Blvd, Manteca,CA April 6, 1995
but the level will be monitored during the next quarterly sampling event to verify that it Is not a
recurring problem
VAPOR EXTRACTION MONITORING
During this report period, the VES was monitored each week The Influent and effluent vapor
concentrations were measured for TPH-g using an FID Values measured during site visits this
quarter are shown in table 3 On February 22, 1995, vapor samples were collected for analysis from
the VES Influent and effluent of the catalytic oxidizer The samples were analyzed for BTEX and
TPH-g and total lead Results of laboratory analyses are shown In table 5 Laboratory results
indicate that effluent vapor concentrations for all compounds or analytes were below method
detection limits except for xylenes, which was detected at 2 m g/I These effluent analysis results are
below the 100 ppmv TPH-g limits set by the Unified Air Pollution Control District's Permit (No
N-2625-1-0) to operate
Before the VES was sampled, the applied vacuum was measured at the four operating vapor
extraction wells and the induced vacuum was measured at two monitoring wells within the VES
treatment area (tables 6 and 7) Readings were gathered to determine extraction well efficiency and
• the influence of the vapor extraction wells on the surrounding soli Results of field data collected
this quarter indicate expected vacuum effects on the surrounding area are similar to previous
quarters data
Before collecting ambient soil gas vapor concentration data, the vacuum applied to the vapor
extraction wells was turned off for a period of 5 days This allowed the soil to reach static
conditions before the collection of the vapor samples from the four vapor extraction wells and MW-5
and MW-6 On February 28, 1995, vapor samples were collected from these wells and subsequently
analyzed for TPH-g and BTEX (table 8)
CUMULATIVE TREATMENT SYSTEM MONITORING
A total of 455,558 gallons of water was treated between December 10, 1994, and March 10, 1995
Since the project inception, approximately 3,270,013 gallons of water has been extracted and
treated
On February 16, 1995, samples were collected from the groundwater treatment system and analyzed
for TPH-g, BTEX, total lead, organic lead, and ethylene dibromide at a California-certified laboratory
Laboratory analysis reports and corresponding chain-of-custody records for the sampling event are
included in attachment 4 Results of system historical analyses are summarized In table 4
Laboratory results indicate that all effluent water constituents analyzed were below the method
0102RO15 202
ETMGROUNDWATER
TECHNOLOGY, INC
