Since the vertical extent of impacted soil has previously been defined in the vicinity of the former
USTs, soil samples will not be collected from the proposed soil boring next to the former USTs
From each of the six peripheral soil borings, undisturbed soil samples will be collected at five-foot
' intervals into acetate liners using the Geoprobe sampler In the field, a geologist will log all soil
samples for hydrogeologic and lithologic characteristics according to the Unified Soil Classification
' System and screen each sample for any organic vapors using a photoionization detector (PID)
Groundwater samples will be collected using a HydropunchTM, driven into the groundwater-bearing
soils When the desired depth is reached, the sampler will be pulled up approximately four feet to
expose the open borehole to an inner core well screen Groundwater samples will be collected
' through the Geoprobe drive rods using a bailer
Following sampling, each of the soil borings will be abandoned using neat cement grout The
boreholes will be filled with grout from the bottom using a tremae pipe Following borehole
abandonment, the surface pavement will be restored
' Soil and groundwater samples will be properly contained, labeled, preserved and transported with
chain-of-custody documentation to a state of California certified hazardous waste testing laboratory
for analysis Based on field observations and PID measurements, approximately two soil samples
from each of the six peripheral soil borings, and all of the groundwater samples will be submitted for
' laboratory analysis Additional sod samples may be submitted for analysis, if required to adequately
characterize the site Field observations and sample selection will be reviewed with the PHSIEHD
inspector, prior to sample submittal to the lab
Each soil andg roundwater sample will be analyzed for TPH-as-diesel by EPA Method 8015M, and
' for TPH-as-gasoline, BTEX, MTBE, DIPS, ETBE, TAME, and TBA by EPA Method 8260B All
laboratory analyses will be performed on a standard tum-around
' 23 Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation Report
' The methods and finding of the proposed work will be presented in an Environmental Site
Investigation Report The report will be prepared and stamped by a state of California Registered
Geologist Copies will be submitted to PHSIEHD and RWQCB
10
