' 18 April 2001
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0520
1
Various BTEX compounds were detected in all of the water samples analyzed.Benzene was detected
' in samples from MW-2 (0.7 µg/1) and MW-3 (1.2 µg/1). Toluene was detected in samples from all
wells except MW-4;the maximum toluene concentration was found in the sample from MW-5 (5.6
µg11).The maximum•ethylbenzene and xylene concentrations were detected in the sample from MW-
1 5 at 900 µg/1 and 1,000 µg/l; respectively.
TBA was detected by EPA Method 8260B in three of the ground water samples(MW-3,MW-4 and
' MW-5) at concentrations ranging from 14 µg/1 in MW-5 to 170 µg/i in MW-3.
MTBE,EDB and 1,2-DCA were not detected above laboratory reporting limits in the ground water,
' samples collected.
Analytical results of ground water samples are summarized on Table 2. The laboratory report(MAI
Lab I.D. No. 63396 through 63400) and chain-of-custody forms are included in Appendix B.
' 4.0, SUMMARY AND.CONCLUSIONS
Based upon data collected from the site, AGE concludes:
• . Depth to ground water at the site averaged approximately 17.4 feet bsg on 16 March 2001.
' 0 On 16 March 2001 the ground water elevation at the site averaged.approximately 19.3 feet
above mean sea level, with a net flow towards the northwest under an average gradient of
0.0008 ft/ft.
t TPH-g concentration increased in groundwater samples from MW-1 through MW-4 from
the previous quarter monitoring; TPH-g concentration in the sample from MW-5 (former
' UST area) remained the same.
• TPH-g and various BTEX compounds were detected in all five ground water monitoring
wells on-site. Further lateral definition is necessary to determine the horizontal extent of
1 hydrocarbon-impact to ground water.
• TBA was detected in three of the five ground water monitoring wells at concentrations as
high as 170 µg/l.
' TI5,0, RECOMMENDATIONS
' Based upon data collected from the site, AGE-recommends: '
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
