The scope of work is based on the findings of the
February 1993 Interim Pollution Assessment Report (IPAR), comments by the Regional
Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) following review of the IPAR, and subsequent
discussions with Philip Isorena and Wendy Cohen of the RWQCB at the May 6, 1993,
meeting.
SCOPE OF WORK
The objective of the phase II site assessment is to define the lateral and vertical extent
of petroleum hydrocarbon impact to the subsurface. Areas of petroleum hydrocarbon
impact to the A- and B-zones were identified across the site in the IPAR; however,
further study is required to characterize the lateral and vertical extent. In addition, impacts
to the lower water-bearing zones, if any, will be investigated.
Activities associated with the phase II site assessment are organized into 13 tasks, as
described in the following sections and summarized on Table 1.
Task 1. Preliminary activities, including coordinating with the STTC and
facility representatives, clearing underground utilities, scheduling
subcontractors and materials, obtaining drilling and well installation
permits, and updating the site safety plan.
SAC/PROT93,P9304031.1be-93 lmc:5
