Nolte and Associates, Inc. • • MONITORING WELLS <br /> 1.08 DEVELOPMENT WATER <br /> During development and test pumping of the wells, development water shall be carried away <br /> from the well site in such a manner as to minimize erosion and avoid inundation of other <br /> construction activities. Contractor shall coordinate his activities with other contractors on the <br /> jobsite. <br /> 1.09 DISPOSAL <br /> Contractor shall make arrangements with the Owner for spreading of cuttings on site. <br /> PART 2 -PRODUCTS <br /> 2.01 GENERAL <br /> All materials shall be furnished by an established and experienced manufacturer or supplier. All <br /> materials shall be new, of first-class ingredients, and guaranteed to perform the service required. <br /> 2.02 MATERIALS <br /> A. Drilling Fluid Additives <br /> Direct rotary drilling fluid shall be made of high grade bentonite clays or organic polymer <br /> additives, in common usage in the municipal water well industry and meeting or exceeding <br /> American Petroleum Institute Standard 13-A, "Drilling Fluid Materials." Fluid shall possess <br /> such characteristics as required to condition the borehole walls and yet produce an easily <br /> removed thin filter cake. With submittal of the signed contract, Contractor shall submit a <br /> program prepared by a qualified mud engineer for approval by the Engineer. Submittal shall <br /> include recommendations for make-up water conditioning, quantities of clay base and additive <br /> required to obtain a drilling fluid with the following properties: mud weight 9.4 lbs/gal, Marsh <br /> funnel viscosity 45 sec/qt, API cake thickness 3/32 in., and sand content of return mud 2% by <br /> volume. Contractor shall maintain drilling fluid viscosity to raise cuttings and adequately _ <br /> condition walls of the holes. <br /> B. Well Casing and Screen <br /> The casing used in a well shall be flush couple threaded PVC (ASTM F480), Schedule 40, 4 in. <br /> nominal inside diameter (ID). No PVC solvent shall be used. If the well is artesian, a screw-on <br /> cap or valve will be installed on the well. End fittings provided with the pipe shall be double <br /> entry stub ACME flush screw threads with Viton O-ring male end fitting. <br /> The well screen shall be a continuous slot, wire wound design, or equivalent, with a slot width <br /> _l be determined after sieve analysis.-Each well screen shall be-20 ft long, or the top of the <br /> installed screen shall be 15 ft below thertground surface, whichever screen length is shorter All <br /> well screens and casings shall be kept clean and free of foreign matter, and washed with <br /> approved water prior to use. <br /> 3 <br />
