evine•Fricke•Recon
ENGINEERS,HVDROGEOLOGISTS 8 APPLIED SCIENTISTS
• A-zone monitoring wells were installed from April 15 through May 9, 1997, at the following
locations: near Gettysburg Place on Calhoun Way (MW-103A) and Stanton Way (MW-105A),
on Lincoln Elementary School (on the corner of Pacific Avenue and Lincoln Road [MW-
106A]), and on Emeryn Street near Lincoln Road (MW-107A; Figure 1).
• Pilot soil boring PB-300, B-zone monitoring well MW-201B, and C-zone monitoring well
MW-300C were installed at the plume perimeter location on Emeryn Street near Lincoln Road
from April 8 through May 10, 1997 (Figure 1).
• Pilot soil boring PB-202131 and PB-202132 were installed at the plume perimeter location
behind Village Cleaners at Lincoln Center from May 12 through 16, 1997 (Figure 1).
• The shallow soil-vapor investigation in and around the suspected source areas along selected
sanitary sewer lines at Lincoln Center continued through April and May and is ongoing.
• CPT and PIPP sampling were conducted at source area locations at Lincoln Center from April
28 through May 19, 1997.
• As part of the monitoring well MW-21 evaluation, groundwater quality in the vicinity of
MW-21 was investigated by drilling a pilot boring and collecting PIPP samples from individual
sand layers in the B-zone aquifer. Based on the results of groundwater sample analyses,
monitoring wells MW-203B(1), MW-203B(2), and MW-203B(3) were installed and screened
across three depth intervals in the B-zone aquifer. This work was conducted from May 19
through 29, 1997 (Figure 1).
• Survey activities were conducted on April 14 through 18, 1997, to obtain top-of-casing
elevations for newly repaired monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-4 and MW-8, and newly
installed monitoring well MW-102; and to obtain horizontal locations and ground surface
elevations for the soil-vapor sample locations and the CPT/PIPP borings installed during the
source area investigation and the Interim Remedial Action (IRA) activities.
• Access negotiations continued with private property owners and their tenants to obtain
permission to conduct Remedial Investigation and IRA activities on adjacent properties.
Although access agreements have been finalized between the SDCDs and the neighboring
property owners and tenants at Lincoln Center, permission to proceed with the field work has
not yet been received from all of those parties.
411 t-E97.BMM:SRL 2
