1 • Levine-Fricke-Recon
Section: 5
' Date Initiated:September 23, 1996
Revision No.: 1
Date Revised:August 21, 1998
' workers on the Site during non-daylight hours may wear reflective clothing to increase
' visibility.
In general, the outdoor environment in the work area is maintained in a neat and clean
' condition, which reduces opportunities for tripping when walking about the work area.
Nevertheless, wet or slippery surfaces present potential hazards. In addition, specific
tasks (such as excavation, walking on a decontamination pad, or drilling) add other
' specific risks. The primary method of minimizing accidental injury under these
conditions is to exercise care in making one's way through the Site. Additional
physical hazards may result from working during non-daylight hours, and thus require
' additional vigilance when walking around in the dark. Supplemental lighting will be
used where necessary to reduce worker risk during non-daylight hours, and work areas
will be adequately lighted for the conduct of safe operations after dark, in accordance
' with 8 CCR 1523.
The movement and handling of containers and materials on the Site poses a worker risk
' in the form of muscle strains and minor injuries. These injuries can be avoided by
using safe handling practices, proper lifting techniques, and proper personal safety
equipment, such as steel-toed boots and sturdy work gloves.
5.2.9 Confined Space Entry
No confined space entry operations are scheduled or anticipated during the course of
operations at the Site.
' RIFSWP-AppF-Rcv1*4111:SRL Page F-15
