Levine-Fricke-Recon • ' <br /> Section: 10 <br /> Date Initiated:September 23, 1996 ' <br /> Revision No.: 1 <br /> Date Revised:August 21, 1998 <br /> Page 28 of 34 , <br /> 10.0 TRAINING AND MEDICAL MONITORING REQUIREMENTS <br /> 10.1 Training Requirements <br /> All personnel, including subcontractors and visitors conducting work in controlled <br /> areas of the Site, must have completed the appropriate training as required by <br /> 29 CFR 1910.120 and 8 CCR 5192. Further site-specific training will be conducted by <br /> the SSO before the initiation of project activities. This training will include, but will <br /> not necessarily be limited to, emergency procedures, site control, personnel <br /> responsibilities, and the provisions of this HSP. <br /> General site workers (such as equipment operators, general laborers, and supervisory <br /> personnel) engaged in hazardous substance removal or other activities that could <br /> expose them to hazardous substances must have successfully completed the initial off- <br /> site 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response training course <br /> and a minimum of three days actual field experience under the direct supervision of a <br /> trained, experienced supervisor. Workers on site only occasionally, for specific limited <br /> tasks (such as, but not limited to, groundwater-level monitoring) shall receive a , <br /> minimum of initial 24-hour off-site instruction and a minimum of one day field <br /> experience under the direct supervision of a trained, experienced supervisor. Workers <br /> with 24 hours of training who become general site workers or who are required to <br /> wear respirators shall have the additional 16 hours of classroom instruction and 2 days <br /> of field work training under the supervision of a qualified person necessary for general <br /> site workers. The training requirements for selected subcontractors will be waived if <br /> they only participate in non-intrusive activities where exposure to affected media is not <br /> anticipated. On-site managers and supervisors must have also completed eight <br /> additional hours of specialized hazardous waste operations management training. <br /> In addition, each employee must have attended the 8-hour annual refresher training <br /> course within 12 months of any on-site work if their initial 40-hour or 24-hour training <br /> course was completed more than twelve months prior. The Site Project Manager or <br /> respective contractors will maintain current copies of training certificates for all site <br /> personnel. <br /> Personnel who conduct sampling and air monitoring shall be trained in the operation of <br /> the equipment including, but not limited to, PIDs, FIDS, calorimetric indicator tubes, <br /> and others as required.
