• 14 June 2004
AGE-NC Project No 98-0540
3 1 GROUND WATER GRADIENT AND FLOW DIRECTION
The elevation of ground water In each well was calculated by subtracting the depth to ground water
from the surveyed casing elevations (Table 1) Depths to ground water for the December 2003
monitoring event ranged from 78 53 feet to 78 70 feet below the tops of the well casings Ground
water elevations at the site ranged from 21 83 feet below mean sea level (MSL) in MW-2 to 2196
feet below MSL In MW-3 The maximum ground water gradient was calculated to be 0 003 foot/foot
with a flow direction to the east-southeast(Figure 4)
Depths to ground water for the March 2004 monitoring event ranged from 77 38 feet to 77 45 feet
below the tops of the well casings Ground water elevations at the site ranged from 20 66 feet below
mean sea level (MSL) in MW-2 to 20 71 feet below MSL In MW-3 The maximum ground water
gradient was calculated to be 0 001 ft/ft with a flow direction towards the south-southeast(Figure 5)
32 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF WATER SAMPLES
Quarterly ground water samples collected from monitoring and domestic wells were submitted to
Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories(CTEL)for analysis, two domestic-well samples collected on
10 December 2003 were submitted to McCampbell Analytical Inc (MAI) for confirmation testing
for analytes detected In the same wells on 20 November 2003 The analytical results are as follows
3 2 1 Monitoring Well Ground Water Results
TPH-g was detected in the ground water samples collected from MW-1 and MW-3 during the
December monitoring event at concentrations of 820 micrograms per liter (µg/l) and 470 µg/1,
respectively(Table 2)
BTEX compounds were detected in the samples from MW-1 and MW-3 during the December
monitoring event at maximum concentrations of 11 µg/1 toluene,2 5 µg/1 ethylbenzene and 195 µg/I
xylenes In sample MW-1
The fuel additive 1,2-DCA was detected in the December 2003 ground water samples from MW-1
and MW-3 at concentrations of 44 µg/1 and 270µg/1,respectively, 1,2-DCA also was detected in the
March 2004 samples from MW-1 and MW-3 at concentrations of 15 µg/1 and 97 µg/1,respectively
No other target analytes were detected above laboratory reporting limits from either monitoring
event
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
