08/01/61 15:03 FAX 209 942 00 Siegfried Ens • 2011 <br /> SECTION 02675 <br /> WELL ABANDONMENT <br /> PART 1 -GENERAL <br /> 1.01 DESCRIPTION <br /> A. The work to be performed under this Section shall consist of furnishing all labor, materials, <br /> tools, transportation, supplies, equipment, appurtenances, fuel, and power, unless specifically <br /> excepted, necessary or required the complete the satisfactory abandonment of the waterwell <br /> and pumping plant as shown on the plans and described in these specifications. <br /> B. The work shall consist of removing existing pumping plant equipment,filling and sealing the <br /> well casing , containing any water discharged from the casing, excavating and removing a <br /> portion of the well casing below grade and backfilling the excavation. Cleanup and the <br /> restoration of the site to its original condition is also required. <br /> 1.02 CONTRACTOR'S QUALIFICATIONS <br /> A. The Contractor shall have been engaged in the business of constructing wells for a period of <br /> at least five(5)years. <br /> B. The Contractor shall employ only competent workmen on this project and all work shall be <br /> performed under the direct supervision of an experienced drilling superintendent satisfactory <br /> to the Engineer. <br /> 1.03 REFERENCED STANDARDS <br /> A. Published specifications, standards, tests, or recommended methods of trade, industry or <br /> governmental organizations apply to work of this Section where cited by abbreviations noted <br /> below. <br /> 1. The American Society for Testing and Materials(ASTM). <br /> 2. The American Water Works Association (AWWA). <br /> 3. State of California, Department of Transportation's"Standard Specifications" (CalTrans). <br /> 4. Occupational Safety and Health Administration(OSHA). <br /> 1.04 SUBMITTALS <br /> A. Provide a complete set of Submittals in accordance with the provisions of Division 1. Such <br /> submittals shall indicate at minimum the following: <br /> 1. Manufacturer's Specifications: Where manufacturer's specifications and/or directions are <br /> referred to in the specifications. <br /> 2. Product Data: Furnish manufacturer's descriptive and technical data sheets where <br /> required to indicate use of materials or equipment in conformance with the Specifications. <br /> 3. Materials: Furnish signed certificates from the suppliers of materials and manufactured <br /> items showing conformance with standards specified in this Section. <br /> 4. Mix Designs: Furnish copies of the mix design data for each type of concrete to be used <br /> on the work. <br /> 1.05 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br /> A. Materials and equipment specified by reference to standard specifications,trade association <br /> publications, and manufacturer's catalogs and installation recommendations, shall refer to the <br /> latest issue in effect at the date of the contract, except where building codes refer on specific <br /> items to an earlier issue. All referenced standard specifications shall be considered an integral <br /> part of this specification as if repeated in full herein. <br /> 02675- 1 <br />
