The site consists primarily of warehouses
for the storage and refurbishment of military equipment. This site lies within
the Pacific Border Physiographic Province of California on flat, dry land in
the San Joaquin valley. Surface elevations range between 16 and 20 feet
above mean sea level (ft-msl). There is no evidence that the area affects any
stream or river. There are no historical buildings or archeological findings
inside the installation boundaries. The only historic site located within
Sharpe boundaries is the Depot Chapel near the administration area. No
endangered or threatened faunal species are known to inhabit the site.
However, the installation does represent a potential habitat for several
candidate species. Candidate species have no protection under the
Endangered Species Act, but it is possible that one or more could be
proposed and listed before the remediation at Sharpe is complete.
