Food Express, Inc. - Lathrop , CA <br /> Procedure to Follow in the Event of a Discharge 40 CFR 112.7(a)(5) <br /> In the event of a discharge/spill follow these procedures: <br /> 1. Take prompt necessary measures to stop the discharge such as turning off <br /> pumps, shutting valves or isolating lines, create dams or barriers to isolate <br /> and stem oil product flows. <br /> 2. Secure all sources of ignition. <br /> 3. Immediately initiate the reporting procedures and contacts listed on page 20 <br /> and report the information as outlined in 40 CFR 112.7.(a)(4) on page 21. <br /> 4. Identify the source of the discharge, type of oil product discharged, an <br /> approximation of the amount of the discharge and the area covered by the <br /> discharge. <br /> 5. Evaluate the possibility of fire hazards to inform the Fire Department <br /> accordingly. <br /> 6. Evaluate the potential risk to persons located on property surrounding the <br /> site. If a risk exists, notify the Fire Department. <br /> 7. FXI will contact their environmental remediation contractor, PSC or George <br /> W. Lowry, Inc., if the release is not contained on site, or cannot be addressed <br /> by FXI and the use of first response absorbent materials on site. <br /> 8. Cleanup procedures and guidance are to be used and followed as specified in <br /> Appendix E. <br /> 9. Take prompt action to contain the discharge on the site by use of temporary <br /> dams and/or use of absorbent materials. No action will be taken that may <br /> place the employee or public in risk of danger. <br /> a. Contain the discharge or spill with the use of booms and absorbents. Use <br /> large quantities of absorbent materials, such as andradite, vermiculite or <br /> sand to soak up and contain the spill in place by direct application. <br /> b. Once the spill is contained use brooms and shovels to place the absorbent <br /> material in drums on the site <br /> c. The drums shall be properly labeled, stored and manifested until disposed <br /> at an appropriate facility. <br /> 10. Any discharge or spill will be monitored by FXI's management to ensure that <br /> safety is addressed and that all waste is contained, transported and disposed <br /> of in a proper manner. <br /> These procedures will be posted and available to all personnel at the facility. <br /> Environmental Services 22 <br /> 2012 <br />
