2.1.4 Existing Drainage and Groundwater <br /> The facility will have no significant effect -on groundwater <br /> or drainage. Water on the site flows from east to west <br /> where it is collected in a temporary ditch running south <br /> along Austin Road, where it empties into Weber Slough which <br /> passes under Austin Road at the southwestern extremity of <br /> the site (where it continues westerly to Littlejohn Creek, <br /> see Figure 1). <br /> Current depth to groundwater is 120 feet. Water will be <br /> obtained from an onsite well . No significant groundwater <br /> change is expected from the project as there will be <br /> sanitary uses only. The project process consumes an <br /> insignifiant amount of water. <br /> The site is an area of 100—year shallow flooding (depth = 1 <br /> foot) . Excess storm water resulting from covered areas will <br /> be collected in an evaporation pond. There will be no <br /> leaching of water from the agricultural biomass piles, since <br /> experience at existing biomass—fueled power plants has shown <br /> that rainfall is absorbed within the top few inches of the <br /> pile. <br /> 2.1.5 Sewage, Drainage, and Solid Waste <br /> Sewage will be treated with a septic tank and leach field. <br /> Sewage disposal is not expected to be significant due to the <br /> small number of people at the plant when in operation. <br /> No ash is expected as the dryers are fired by a blend <br /> consisting primarily of recycled oil, with some No. 2 fuel <br /> oil at times to reduce viscosity and stabilize heating value <br /> as necessary. Propane will be used as a backup for use in <br /> the event of a failure in the fuel oil feed system. The <br /> small amount of metals or other material which may be <br /> separated from the agricultural waste to prevent damage to <br /> the reclaim hopper will be trucked to the nearby landfills. <br /> Sludges from the used lubricant recovery process will be <br /> disposed of to approved facilities, in accordance with its <br /> classification. The volume of this sludge will be very <br /> small, approximately one barrel every two weeks. <br /> The used lubricant recovery facility will provide positive <br /> environmental impacts by providing a controlled use of used <br /> oils now disposed of by unaccounted for and undesirable <br /> methods. <br /> 2.1.7 Cultural <br /> There are no cemetaries, structures, or other items of <br /> historical or archaelogical interest on the site. <br /> 3 <br />
