' 04 February 2000
AGE-NC Project No 99-0647
1
' 2 2 COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLE
A water sample was collected from monitoring well MW-1 using a new disposable bailer after
' allowing the well to achieve a minimum 80%recovery of the pre-purge water volume The sample
was transferred into 40-m1 EPA-approved vials containing 0 5 ml 18%hydrochloric acid as a sample
preservative The sample vials were then labeled with the monitoring well designation, date, time
' of sampling and the sampler's Initials The samples were transported in a chilled container under
chain of custody to McCampbell Analytical, Inc (MAI), a Callforma Department of Health Services
(DHS)-certified analytical laboratory for analysis The samples were analyzed for
I
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA
Method 5030/8015Modified,
' Volatile aromatic compounds-benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX)
with methyl tertiary butyl ether(MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method 8020, and
' Fuel oxygenates,Including tertiary butanol(TBA),di-isopropyl ether(DIPE),ethyl tert-butyl
ether(ETBE), tert-amyl methyl ether(TAME), and MTBE in accordance with EPA Method
8260M
' 3.0. FINDINGS
' Hydrocarbon-impact to ground water was Inferred from laboratory analysis and field observations
Ground water elevations were determined by subtracting the measured depths-to-water from the
surveyed casing elevations (Table 1) Ground water flow direction was determined by contouring
the ground water elevations on a scaled site plan (Figure 4)
3 1 GROUND WATER ELEVATION AND GRADIENT
Ground water elevation Increased 0 29 feet to 55 52 feet below the top of the well casing in MW-1
since the September 1999 monitonng event Monitoring data from MW-1 was combined with
monitoring well data from an adjacent site to infer ground water flow direction Ground water flow
direction was inferred to be northeasterly with a gradient of 0 0012 ft/ft The flow direction is similar
to that determined for previous monitoring events Figure 4 - Ground Water Elevation depicts the
contours for September 1999 The gradient map was expanded to include data from monitoring wells
located at 3535 East Cherokee Road
•
' Advanced GeoEnvlronmental,Inc
