SAFE WAY TM <br /> THE SAFEWAY COMPANIES <br /> Safeway Vons•Pavilions-Dominick's-Carrs <br /> TomThumb•Randalis•Genuardi's•Wen Save <br /> NORCAL DISTRIBUTION <br /> SPILL CONTROL PROCEDURES <br /> DIESEL FUEL <br /> Refer to Material Safety Data Sheet for details. <br /> ® Block off area—keep employees out of the area <br /> If outside, stay upwind or crosswind of spill <br /> a Remove sources of ignition <br /> 'Safeway employees will proceed with the following only for "small.spills" other than protecting storm <br /> drains;for large spills contract responders will clean up releases. <br /> ® Put on required PPE(personal protective equipment) <br /> Splash proof chemical goggles and face shield if needed <br /> Rubber chemical resistant gloves <br /> 4 Rubber boots preferred <br /> -4 Protective clothing/slickers (both upper and lower body) <br /> .An eye wash/shower or running water should be in the area — if not, have bottles of eyewash <br /> available <br /> ® Position container(s) so as to stop further leakage . <br /> ® Plug and patch container(s)leaking <br /> ® If necessary,plug drains with drain blocker mat <br /> ® If necessary,build retention dike using absorbent boom <br /> ® Apply absorbent materials(pigs,pillows,powder, cat litter)to spill area <br /> ® Place spilled material in a labeled waste drum <br /> ® Isolate area and make notifications <br /> I ® Complete surface cleanup using dry oil absorbent materials <br /> a Notify the Distribution Center Risk Control Supervisor and/or Food Safety/Environmental Affairs <br /> Manager <br />
