T I z <br /> 4.0 PROCEDURES <br /> To meet the project objectives, the following procedure will be performed: <br /> 1) Prepare a Site Health and Safety Plan in accordance with the Occupational Safety <br /> and Health Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (Prepared by the <br /> National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, Occupational Safety and <br /> Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and: U.S Environmental Protection <br /> Agency, October 1985). <br /> i! <br /> 2) Notify the San Joaquin County Public Health Services - Environmental Health <br /> Division (PHS/EHD) 48 hours prior to commencement of any work. <br /> 3) Drill at least four (4) borings using a truck-mounted drill rig equipped with <br /> 11-continuous-flight, 8-inch diameter hollow-stem augers. The borings will be drilled to <br /> depths of approximately 20 feet. Borings to be completed as monitoring wells will be <br /> drilled to depths of 30 feet. Boring locations aredepict. d on Figure 2. <br /> Boring <br /> I <br /> 4) Obtain discrete soil samples at five-foot intervals using a split-tube sampler loaded <br /> with three pre-cleaned brass sleeves. <br /> i <br /> 5) Preserve soil in the lead brass sleeve by covering bot ends with aluminum foil. <br /> capping, and sealing with tape. <br /> I <br /> 6) Label and log soil samples on a chain-of-custody Form. <br /> I <br /> 7) Store the samples under ice and transport the sa!mplesl in a chilled container to a <br /> state-certified laboratory for analysis. Soil samples will be analyzed for TPH- as <br /> gasoline and diesel and volatile aromatics (BTF_&X)�l in accordance with EPA <br /> methods 8015m and 8020, respectively. <br /> 8) Log auger returns in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System. <br /> 9) Monitor auger returns and soil sample duplicates for the presence of volatile organics <br /> using a photo-ionization detector (PID) pre-calibiIated f'o isobutylene. <br /> 10) Decontaminate sampling equipment in an alconox solution and rinse twice with water <br /> prior to each sampling run. <br /> I <br /> 11) Steam-clean auger flights after drilling. <br /> I <br /> 12) Soil cuttings will be stockpiled on plastic sheeting and stored on-site pending <br /> analytical results. <br /> RIPON FARM SERVICE]WPa-93/5G94-M--0.02 <br /> IL <br />
