Generally, continental sediments ranging from
Miocene to Holocene constitute the principal aquifer system in the area. Surface
deposits consist of Holocene floodplain and fan deposits of the Modesto
Formation.
6.2 Hydrologic Setting
The subject property is located within the San Joaquin Basin Hydrologic
Study area, which includes roughly the southern two-thirds of the Great Central
Valley. Within that area, a total of 39 ground water basins and areas of
potential storage have been identified (DWR, 1980) . The inventory covers
thirteen ground water -basins which have been identified as significant sources of
ground water. The subject property is situated within the eastern San Joaquin
-- County-Basin.
The east San Joaquin County Basin is reported as being subject to critical
overdraft MR, 1980} . Adverse affects associated with the overdraft include
declining water levels and an eastern migration of saline water from the adjacent
Delta sediments.
7.0 SOIL PROFILE AND SUBSURFACE COhTDITIDHS
A total of three exploratory soil borings were advanced at the subject
property to an approximate maximum depth of 85 feet below the existing grade for -
c the purpose of logging subsurface conditions, and to install ground water
i
monitoring wells.
DAMES AtooRE
