HWY 99
Manteca, CA
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) staff went to the above
referenced site on January 18, 1994, to observe sampling of the monitoring wells and the site water supply well..
At this time it was noted that the water supply well did not have a sample tap between the well head and the
pressure tank.
Water samples have been collected from a sample tap on a pipe coming from the pressure tank. The water collected
at this point is not representative of actual well water because the water is stored.in the pressure.tank until a faucet
is turned on. During this period of time any volatiles present in the water will escape into the air.
Since the water from this well is used in the ice machine, .soda and coffee machines and these food products are
dispensed to the public the well system is considered a Noncommunity Public Water System. The:PHS/EHD unit
that permits and inspects the Small Public Water Systems does not currently have this system on their inventory.
They have been provided with this.information and will be contacting you with the requirements for your water
system.
One of the requirements will be that a sample tap be provided-on the water pipe between the well head and the
pressure tank. Since this location for a sample tap is also necessary to obtain representative samples of the water
for the petroleum contamination investigation of the site, its installation should be completed as soon as possible.
If you have any questions contact.Margaret Lagorio, Senior REHS, at (209) 468-3449.
Ernest M.
