Partial Excavation of Sampling Locations
Using the most recent septic system installation permit on file with
SJCEHD, Consultant will locate the distribution box, the 90 degree joint
and the end of each leach line for the septic tank system connected to
Room#108. Each of the above areas along with sampling areas located at
each 20 foot section of leach line will be exposed for inspection by
SJCEHD.
Soil Sample Collection and Analysis
Consultant proposes to advance eleven soil borings utilizing a combination
of GeoProbe "direct-push" techniques and hand augur soil borings: one
boring will be advanced angling beneath the septic tank, one boring will be
located under the distribution box(D-Box) and one boring will be located
under the 90 degree connection on the leach line. The leach line borings
will be located directly below the leach line trenches at 20 foot intervals.
Each boring will be advanced to approximately 4 feet below ground surface
(bgs) into native soil directly underneath each sampling area. The last
sampling point will coincide with the end of each leach line.
Soil samples will be submitted to GeoAnalytical Laboratories for
laboratory analysis. The samples will be analyzed for the following
constituents:
• Total recoverable petroleum hydrocarbons(TRPH) in accordance
with USEPA Test Method 8015m, carbon chain C-4 through C-44;
• Chloride in accordance with USEPA Method 300.0;
• Volatile organic compounds with a full scan USEPA Test Method
8260B;
• Ph in accordance with USEPA Test Method 150.1.
Laboratory reports for soil analysis, testing methods, laboratory quality
assurance/quality control(QA/QC) reports, and sample chain of custody
documentation will be presented in a report of findings and
recommendations.
Task 5- Report Preparation
Upon completion of field work and receipt of final laboratory analysis, a
report will be prepared presenting the findings of the investigation. The
report will include a description of the work performed including diagram
of septic system, location of sampling points and results of the sampling
and analysis. Conclusions and applicable recommendations will be included
in the report. The report will be reviewed and signed by a California
Certified Engineering Geologist.
Main\D\Environmental\St.FrancisMotel\Workplan051005.wo 8
