HA7ARDOUS MATERIAL HANDLING: TVG PLANT 4
"Our objective is to peep our workplace safe and free of any hazardous materials which can
affect us or our neighbors."
In general, all mechanics are responsible for the handling the materials they use on a daily basis at
work. This includes their use, storage and disposal. This responsibility is everyones. We only
generate a few hazardqus wastes in our facility, but their volumes are high. We want to minimize
this where possible. Vie may find out we cannot reduce the level of hazardous waste we generate
but we need to look atllit closely to be sure. Regulatory agencies have to monitor what we do but
we should be able to comply ourselves to a level which would more than suffice for regulatory
requirements.
We want to accomplish some basic things during this training:
A. Identify the hazardous waste streams we deal with in the plant.
B. Identify how they are generated.
C. Identify how to handle them.
D. Identify how ar d where to dispose of them.
E. How to ident a hazardous waste drum and its contents.
F. Proper labeling of a hazardous waste drum.
G. Proper storage of hazardous waste drums.
We also want to review emergency procedures in the event of a release or spill and proper
evacuation procedures)
1. Identification
2. Notification
3. Emergency Response
4. Evacuation
