X. FACILITY rZANSFER OPERATIONS [112.7(e)(3)] <br />Underground pipeli es transfer oil products to several areas throughout the yard. Underground pipe <br />associated with the separation plant in Area 2 include a drainage system from the diesel shop building (Q), <br />wash rack, and fueli ig rack (M) to the separation plant. Oil is pumped between the waste oil pump (B) <br />and the waste oil tan(No. 9) and sludge is transferred by an underground pipeline from the sludge pump <br />(D) to the sludge to d spot (E). Underground pipelines associated with the oil separation plant are steel <br />pipe with Extru-Coa plastic coating. <br />The underground pi elines transferring oil in the diesel storage area, Area 3, include lines from the pump <br />skids (J and L) to T#nk No. 6 and from Tank No. 6 to the fueling racks (M) in Area 4. These fuel lines <br />are cathodically prot cted as well as being coated with Extru-Coat plastic protective wrapping. <br />Journal box oil and it compressor oil are transferred from reusable totes to the journal box oil load area <br />and service pit (N). <br />Cast iron, transit, and clay pipelines transfer waste water and oil to the drain sump (T) north of the diesel <br />shop area. Piping fro n the sump to the separation plant in Area 2 is steel with Extru-Coat plastic coating. <br />Lube oil is transfen ed from the lube oil tank (No. 11) to the fueling rack (M). Drained lube oil is <br />transferred to the usc d lube oil tank (No. 12) through steel lines with Extru-Coat plastic coating. <br />High pressure testinwas performed during the last quarter of 1994 on the diesel fuel piping system. <br />Pressure testing con fists of pressurizing the pipes to 100 pounds per square inch (psi) for 15 minutes. <br />Aboveground piping is used to supply fuel to Tank No. 6 in Area 3. This piping and other aboveground <br />piping and associated visible transfer operation components are visually observed approximately weekly <br />by UPRR personnel. <br />When underground ipeline sections are exposed, they are examined and corrective action taken if <br />evidence of corrosion is observed. Pipeline terminal connections are capped or blank flanged if the <br />pipeline is determined to be out of service. <br />Aboveground pipink is painted. Aboveground pipe supports are designed to allow expansion and <br />contraction. <br />XI.
