Changin locomotive oil and oil filters occurs at the diesel <br />shop. The locomotives are on cement pads which are sloped to <br />a drain which flows to a gravity fed oil/water separator and <br />ultimately to the oil/water treatment station. Bulk waste <br />oil is stored in a 20,000 gallon aboveground tank to the east <br />Of the hop. <br />Cleanin the locomotives occurs in the diesel shop and at the <br />wash pa . These areas are also plumbed to the diesel shop <br />oil/wat r separator then to the oil/water treatment system. <br />The oil/ ater separator and treatment system functions are to <br />separat the yard and facility runoff into three different <br />waste s reams: 1) recyclable waste oil, 2) waste oil sludge, <br />and 3) aste water. <br />The recclable waste oil is reclaimed from the oil/water <br />separat r system and stored in large (10,000 gallon and <br />20,000 allon) aboveground tanks. This oil is transported <br />and rec cled by Evergreen Oil Company. <br />The was e oil sludge is a by-product of the oil/water <br />treatme t system. This sludge is pumped through below grade <br />piping t tank cars. Union Pacific transports this sludge by <br />rail fo disposal in Council Bluffs, Iowa. <br />The waste water flows into the City of Stockton Waste Water <br />Treatmen System. This water is discharged under permit from <br />the City of Stockton Municipal Utilities Department. <br />The speoil filters are stored in a labeled container at <br />the die el repair shop. The filters are transported and <br />disposedof by United States Pollution Control, Inc. of <br />Clive, U ah as hazardous waste. <br />The locomotives are fueled on a cement pad west of the diesel <br />repair hop.
