The <br />1. <br />Coordinate with the Casualty Management Department <br />in its effort to determine Company policy regard— <br />ing claim disposition. <br />Zstablish contact With yederal, state and local <br />agencies or elected officials to resolve legal or <br />community affairs issues. <br />Public Relations Department will: <br />Travel to the scene of the accident involving <br />hazardous materials or pollutants. if conditions <br />warrant, and conduct media briefings on a regular <br />'basis or as new information 'becomes available. <br />2. Coordinate efforts with Company personnel; repre— <br />sentatives of federal, state and local agencies; <br />contractors hired 'by the Company; and, revresenta— <br />tives of the customer whose commodity is involved <br />in the accident, to ensure accurate and timely <br />reporting of events. <br />F. The ]Engineering and Maintenance Department will manaee <br />the remedial investigation and mitigation of the site <br />where hazardous materials or pollutants have leen <br />disc arged if such a problem exists after the emergency <br />has ended. <br />G. Traijn Ma*iagement will: <br />1. Receive notification of accidents involving haz— <br />ardous materials or Pollutants from train crews, <br />Principal switching yards, service units and the <br />publi c. <br />2. Give immediate notification to the National Re— <br />sponse Center, lrederal Railroad Administration, <br />National Transportation Safety Board and Chemtrec. <br />3. Notify the appropriate state a7ency and local <br />emergency response agency for accidents involving <br />hazardous material or pollutants that occur on <br />line of track or in unmanned switching yards. <br />4. Notify head,»art,ers staff in aCrnrAnnno with the <br />pubiished call list on file in the office of Train <br />Management. <br />5. Serve as the headouarters command post for major <br />accidents involving hazardous materials or pollu— <br />tants . <br />
