Item No. 3 PC: 9-4-86 QX-86-4 Page 5 The Department of Public Works recommends that the applicant be required to post a bond or a cash deposit to cover the cost of any repairs to Corral Hollow Road made necessary by project traffic. A videotape of the existing road condition would be required prior to the start of excavation. The applicant is agreeable to both recommendations, although the amount of the financial guarantee has yet to be determined. Land Use: Excavation, rock processing, and transportation activities will not conflict with surrounding existing or planned uses. Existing apricot and almond orchards will be removed during excavation, but areas not being excavated will remain in agri- cultural production. Project activities will be set back a minimum distance of 300 feet from the centerlines of the Delta Mendota Canal and the California Aqueduct . The Department of Public Works recommends that the U. S. Bureau of Reclamation of the California Department of Water Resources be required to review and approve the excavation plan. Application referrals have been mailed to both agencies. Any comments received will be presented at the public hearing on this application. Operations will not conflict with Tracy Municipal Airport air traffic because the project site is not near airstrip flight paths. Dust along haul roads will be controlled by applica- tions of water and magnesium chloride, as necessary. Prevailing winds are from the northwest direction - that is, from the airport and toward the project site. Parallel natural gas lines - one owned by Chevron U.S.A. , the other by P.G .&E - traverse the project site. Excavation will be set back 50 feet from each side of the gas lines. Project traffic will cross the lines in a 20-foot stretch at the northeast corner of the site. Chevron requests that the appli- cant uncover, refill , and recompact the pipeline sections at the truck crossing and then construct the road crossing pro- posed for the Tracy Boulevard access road (see Site Access above for design) . The applicant is agreeable to Chevron's request and is in the process of obtaining Chevron' s approval for the truck crossing improvements. Pacific Gas and Electric Company has not replied to its application referral , but its comments are expected in time for the public hearing.
