REMEDIAL STEPS - continued <br /> The excavation will be subject to approved engineering <br /> practice relative to cave-in protection; the excavation <br /> walls may be sloped, if needed. <br /> ITEM 7. PROPOSED DISPOSITION OF SOIL <br /> All excavated sails will be stored on site on asphalt or <br /> 6 mil visquine and will be covered with 6 mil visquine <br /> to prevent uncontrolled emission of hydrocarbons. Based <br /> on the analysis of the removed soil , the most <br /> appropriate remedial methods will be employed to reduce <br /> r. hydrocarbon levels to meet SJLHD standards; ie: <br /> biodegradation or aeration. All activities will be <br /> subject to approval of the appropriate agency. Aeration <br /> will be employed by permit only from the San Joaquin <br /> Local Air Pollution Control Department. <br /> y>, r ITEM 8. TIME SCHEDULE <br /> The proposed 'Ire--excavation" and remedial <br /> activities will be coordinated in three phases: <br /> Phase I: <br /> Phase I will include excavating contaminated soil from <br /> the tank location and placing material in a ,"secure" <br /> condition pending analysis anu consideration cf <br /> treatment. Work will begin within five (5) working days <br /> after approval of the work plan. Soil analysis will bL2 <br /> available to SJLHD within a maximum of fifteen ( 15) days <br /> from date of sampling. <br /> Phase I I <br /> Upon receipt of acceptable soil analysis data, the <br /> excavation will be backfilled with clean material and <br /> T---- ---.- - - - -- -compacted- to--meet-spec-ificat ions--of- Franz ia--Brothers- - <br /> Winery. The area will be re-paved and put into service <br /> for parking or driveway. <br /> br <br />
