Advance four groups of twinned cone penetrometer(CPT) borings across the street north of the
above-referenced site, and one group of triple borings in the area of the former underground storage
tanks (UST) to 150 feet below surface grade (bsg) to collect grab water samples and soil samples.
Analyze soil and ground water samples using EPA\Method 8260B. Detection limits of oxygenates
Will be 0.5 to 5.0 micrograms per liter(µg/1).
2. Install one discrete depth continuous multi-chamber monitoring well (NICW with 7 screened
intervals in the area of the former UST.
COMMENTS AND CONDITIONS:
1. Implement the proposed work plan will be in two separate phases as proposed. Obtain analytical
results of the soil and grab groundwater samples from CPT borings the street north of the site before
proceeding with the installation of the deep MCW at the site. :analytical results of the CPT boring
samples may indicate the need for more than one deep_%MC%V to define the three-dimensional extent
of contamination.
2. You are required to install additional NICW on and off site if needed based on the analytical results of
the CPT boring data. EHD recommends you take that contingency into consideration when applying
to the Clean Up Fund.
3. The detection limit for methyl tert butyl ether('MTBE)using EPA Method 8020 for HP4
groundwater sample from the previous investigation was set at 1,000 µg/l. Detection limits of MTBE
and oxygenates for this work plan must be lowered to the proposed 0.5 to 5.0 µg/I range. .analytical
results of"non-detect"above this range will not be accepted.
4. Implement proposed work b}-\Iay 1,2003.
REASONS FOR DISAPPROVAL OF THE WORKPLAN(H&S 25299.37,subd.(C)(3).): \une
1
DATED March 18,2003 BY
c: RWQCB,Central Valley Region—James L.L.Barton,RG
c: /Condor Earth Technologies—Lee'Morse/Donald Kresse,RG
