The yard is situated approx. 1 mile E. of 1-5 in the San Joaquin Valley. The rails are oriented approx. north -south. Boundaries of the major oil use areas include E. Charter Wy and residential and commercial structures to the N. A drainage ditch defines the approx. eastern boundary of the yd., with residentia structures further E. Walker Slough (Duck Creek) defines the approx. southern boundary of the Stockton Yd. The W. side of the yard is bordered by mixed residential and industrial properties. The nearest navigable water is Walker Slough, bordering the yard to the E.and S. and intersecting with French Camp Slough approx. 1-1/2 miles west of the yd. These waterways drain into the San Joaquin River. The portion of the Stockton Yd. that contains oil material storage and usage areas is approximately 1-3/4 miles long.
