Quarterly Monitoring July 2001 and ' Sensitive Receptor Survey Report Canepa s Car Wash(Pacific Avenue) Page 11 6 5 2 Neighbors I The owner of the well on Marengo (W1, Figure 11, Appendix A) indicated that his four surrounding neighbors also had wells ' 653 Old Farm Houses and Orchards Within the site study area there are homes constructed in the 1950s These are interspersed with older I rural farmhouses, farmland, and orchards The owner of the parcel at 756 Porter Avenue was contacted by telephone The owner indicated that there was potentially a well located on her property before improvements An old farmhouse on her property was removed approximately 10 years ago She ' believed the well was properly closed when the old farmhouse was removed No DWR records exist for this location There are two wells potentially located on Pearl Avenue and one potentially located on Swain Road These are old orchard and farmhouse properties 6 5 4 LUST Sites ' Three LUST sites are located within the 2,000-foot radius of the site 1 A Regal gas station (Li, Figure 11, Appendix A) is located at 6425 Pacific Avenue, approximately 700 feet northwest of the site 2 A Shell gas station (1-2, Figure 11, Appendix A) is located at 6131 Pacific Avenue, approximately 500 feet south of the site 3 A Chevron gas station (L3, Figure 11, Appendix A) is located at 6633 Pacific Avenue, approximately 1,500 feet northwest of the site Monitor wells were identified at the Regal and Chevron gas stations In addition, several monitoring wells were identified in a commercial parking area on the southeast side of Ben Holt Drive and Gettysburg 7 0 SUMMARY Based on the results of the SVE system operation during July 2001, Condor recommends the SVE I system be modified to treat sot] vapors by passing the vapors through carbon canisters rather than using the current thermal treatment method Because vapor concentrations have dropped below 50% of the LEL, the system is no longer able to operate at its design efficiency and is unable to meet the air permit requirements for 95% efficiency Condor is preparing a letter to Mr Wong of the PHS/EHD describing the proposed system modifications The approved groundwater investigation activities are scheduled to be conducted in September and October, 2001 The results of the sensitive receptor survey indicate the presence of two intact domestic wells (W1 and W2) within the study area, at least two municipal wells (XI and X2), and possibly one other well (W3) Neither of the domestic wells is currently m use The location of a municipal well on Gettysburg Place could not be verified No surface water bodies were identified within the search radius Two schools and three childcare/children's activity facilities were identified within the search radius LSI CONDOR
