Canepa's Car Wash <br /> 6230 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, California <br /> Progress Report an Tank Removal and Fuel Line Leak May 13, 1993 <br /> and Work Plan For Monitoring Wells Page 2 <br /> ' be the fastest and least disruptive means of allowmg the Canepa's to get their business <br /> back into operation and protect the environment Mr Canepa would be able to put his 45 <br /> employees back to work with only a one week delay beyond the installation of the new <br />' tanks and dispensers and the site surface would be sealed with concrete <br />' 2.0 Site Description And History <br /> The Canepa Car Wash has been operating at this location for almost 20 years Gasoline <br />' sales from two 12,000 gallon tanks and one 5,000 gallon diesel tank has been a part of the <br /> operation since its inception The site is approximately 100 feet by 250 feet and is <br /> rectangular in shape The site fronts on Pacific Avenue on the West and Evelyn Street on <br /> the East The site improvements include a pre-wash and car vacuuming area as well as the <br /> car wash portion There is a store and offices attached to the car wash section, and the <br /> fuel island canopy with the dispensers is attached to the South side of the store section A <br /> site diagram is included in the Figures section of this report <br /> The tanks that were removed showed no evidence of leakage The contamination found in <br /> the tank area is believed to be a result of over filling the tanks in the past Approximately <br /> 600 cubic yards of soil were removed from the tank excavation area The soils '%N ere <br />' tested by a certified laboratory and hauled under manifest as a non hazardous waste to <br /> Forward Landfill in Stockton, California for disposal Forward landfill is a properly <br /> licensed Class H disposal facility authorized to receive soils of this nature and this level of <br /> contamination Copies of the hauler's manifests and copies of the acceptance receipts <br /> from Forward are included in the Appendices of this report <br />' 3.0 Site Status Report <br /> The site has now had a single soil boring installed with lab samples obtained at 5 foot <br /> intervals to a depth of 56 1/2 feet There are now nine (9) soil vapor extraction wells on <br /> site beneath the fuel canopy or adjacent to the canopy A soil vapor extraction and <br /> combustion system designed to treat the soil contamination problem is being; installed <br /> within the next 14 days The delay of inSWIdtion is because soils that were removed from <br /> the fuel island area are in the same location that the extraction system is to be located <br /> These soils will have to be characterized by a iaboratory and disposed of, or moved aside <br /> before the system can be placed on site The system is also waiting for a permit from the <br /> Stockton City Fire Department for the propane tank needect as the fuel source for the <br /> system <br />
