• Maintaining a high level of health and safety consciousness among <br /> employees at the facility; and <br /> • Maintaining regular communications with the site Health and Safety <br /> Officer (HSO) and, if necessary, to resolve health and safety conflicts, <br /> the Director of Internal Health and Safety (DIHS). <br /> Site Health and Safety Officer <br /> The appointed HSO will be a member of the ERM project field team. The <br /> HSO responsibilities include enforcing the requirements of this HSP once <br /> work begins. By design, the HSO has the authority to immediately correct <br /> all situations where noncompliance with this HSO is noted and to <br /> immediately stop work in cases where an immediate danger is perceived. <br /> The HSO's specific responsibilities include: <br /> • Procuring and distributing the PPE and air monitoring <br /> instrumentation needed for the project; <br /> • Verifying that all PPE and health and safety equipment is in good <br /> working order; <br /> • Setting up and maintaining the personnel decontamination facility; <br /> • Controlling site entry of unauthorized personnel; <br /> • Supervising and monitoring the safety performance of all personnel to <br /> ensure that required safety and health procedures are followed, and <br /> correcting any deficiencies; <br /> • Conducting accident/incident investigations and preparing <br /> investigation reports; and <br /> • Initiating emergency response procedures. <br /> Director, Internal Health and Safety <br /> ERM's DIHS is the individual responsible for the preparation, <br /> interpretation, and modification of this HSP. Modifications to this HSP <br /> which may result in less stringent precautions cannot be undertaken by <br /> the PM or the HSO without the approval of the DIHS.
