SECTION 7 <br /> CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES <br /> Prior to construction, activities that will be conducted include permitting <br /> and notifications, conducting underground utility surveys, and <br /> establishing equipment and materials staging areas. In addition, standard <br /> procedures for health and safety and air monitoring have been developed <br /> to ensure the safety of on-site personnel during construction activities. <br /> These are included in the Health and Safety Plan in Appendix D. <br /> Permitting and Notifications <br /> Prior to construction of the remedial action, the following permits will be <br /> obtained: <br /> • Air Discharge Permit. An air discharge permit will be obtained <br /> from the Air Quality Management District. This permit will specify <br /> the operating requirements and air discharge limits for the vapor <br /> treatment subsystem. <br /> • Approval for Ground Water Reinjection. A ground water <br /> reinjection approval will be obtained from the RWQCB. This <br /> approval will specify treated ground water reinjection <br /> requirements, including reinjection rates, discharge criteria, and <br /> monitoring requirements. Reinjection will be in accordance with <br /> WDRs specified in RWQCB Order No. 92-226 and CAO No. 92-707. <br /> • Well Installation Permits. Well installation permits will be obtained <br /> for installation of the dual phase extraction wells, SVE wells and <br /> margin extraction wells. <br /> • Grading Permit. A grading permit will be obtained for conducting <br /> trenching activities associated with extraction and reinjection <br /> pipeline installation, and grading associated with asphalt paving. <br /> 7-1 <br />
