ARCADIS Phase 11 Field
Investigation Work Plan
Table 1 summarizes the rationale for selection of the individual boring locations that are Union Pacific Railroad
initially proposed.Additional locations may be drilled depending on the results of these Company
Former Maintenance Facility
19 borings. Tracy,California
2.2 CPT/HydroPunchTm Sampling
Twenty-four CPT/HydroPunchTm borings are initially proposed to obtain lithologic data
and to delineate the distribution of TEPH in the transition zones between the source
and perimeter areas, and along the edge of the TEPH plume southeast of well
MW-08A. Groundwater samples will be collected from the A-Zone from a maximum
depth of 30 feet bgs.As needed and based on the results of the initial borings,
additional borings may be drilled and sampled. These results of these
CPT/HydroPunchTM samples will be used to select potential locations for groundwater
monitoring wells. CPT/HydroPunchTM field methods are described in Appendix A.The
CPT/HydroPunchTm boring locations have been selected to:
• Refine the understanding of the distribution of TEPH in the transition area between
MW-14A and MW-22A;and
• Refine the delineation of TEPH along the perimeter of the TEPH plume, particularly
along the upgradient edge;and
• Evaluate potential impacts from the former TPCA pond excavation.
Table 2 summarizes the rationale for selection of the individual boring locations that are
initially proposed.Additional locations may be drilled depending on the results of these
24 locations. HydroPunchTM groundwater samples will be analyzed for the following
constituents:
• TEPH as diesel using United States Environmental Protection Agency(USEPA)
Method 801513;
• TEPH as diesel following a silica gel cleanup(TEPH-SG as diesel)using USEPA
Method 3630C;and
• VOCs using USEPA Method 8260B.
C:Ooatmants end SettnAftmndfllmW SebVs\Te pxwy Internet FdeslConWn.OWooKWSXLSSRPhm 11 WP_Ot 05_09(2).doc 4/6
