i
y s
City of Stockton Fire Station #6
Soil Remediation Plan
Site Code 1013
June 24, 1992
Page 4
Confirmation Sampling
Upon the removal of the contaminated soil, five confirmation soil samples will be collected, one
from the excavation floor, and four from the sidewalls at appropriate depths to verify source
removal. Samples will be analyzed by a State certified laboratory for benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX) and total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHD) utilizing EPA
Methods 8020, modified 355018015. Based upon the leaching potential analysis completed by
PHS/EHD, any soils remaining in place with TPHD levels below 100 ppm.will not pose a threat
to groundwater quality. it is anticipated that no soils containing greater than 100 ppm will be
left in place.
Backfilling
Subsequent to the collection of confirmation soil samples, the excavated area will be backfilled
with the.clean excavated soils (as determined from field observations), engineered sand, and/or
ravel under the requirements set forth b the Cit of Stockton Public Works Department.
P g Y Y P
Soil Remediation
One 2:1 composite sample will be collected from the excavated hydrocarbon impacted soils for
characterization. If the volatile organic compounds (VOC) of the soil register less than 50 ppm,
the soils will be relocated to the City of Stockton Corporation yard under the authorization of
the PHS/EHD for use as a roadbase material at various city paving projects.
Should VOC content of the soil register greater than 50 ppm, the impacted soil will be
transported off site to an appropriate landfill or aerated under permit from the San Joaquin
Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District, San Joaquin County Zone (APCD).
SF5692.TIL
