05 December 2008
' AGE-NC Project No. 04-1153
3.0. FINDINGS
Stratigraphy and ground water hydrogeology underlying the site were characterized from field
descriptions. Hydrocarbon impact to soil and ground water was assessed by laboratory analysis.
Geomaps representing site location and site map were QA/QC checked and uploaded to the State
Water Board GeoTracker site; confirmation numbers are 9125271022 and 16181621730,
respectively.
3.1. STRATIGRAPHY
In boring B 1,located within the former UST excavation area, brown silt was encountered between
5 feet and 15 feet bsg.No petroleum hydrocarbon(HQ odors were observed in any of the three soil
samples collected from boring B1. Organic vapors were not detected utilizing an OVA in any of the
three soil samples collected from boring Bl.
In boring B2, immediately west of the former UST area, brown, dry silt was encountered between
15 feet and 28 feet bsg;brown fine-grained,poorly graded, silty sand was encountered between 28
feet and 33 feet bsg; brown silt was encountered between 33 and 38 feet bsg; silty clay was
encountered between 38 feet and 55 feet bsg. HC odor was not observed in any of the nine soil
samples collected from boring B2. Organic vapors were detected utilizing an OVA in sample
collected from 15 feet and 20 feet in boring B2 at concentrations of 38.6 parts per million(ppm)and
420 ppm, respectively. Organic vapors were not observed in the remaining samples collected from
boring B2.
Ground water was encountered approximately at 45 feet bsg in boring B2.
Boring logs are provided in Appendix C; Geobores for Bland B2 were QA/QC checked and
uploaded to the State Water Board GeoTracker site; confirmation numbers are 8628310263 and
1373763144, respectively.
3.2. HYDROCARBON-IMPACTED SOIL,
A total of 13 soil samples from the two soil borings were analyzed for the constituents listed in
Section 2.2. No target analytes were detected at or above laboratory detection limits in any of the
soil samples analyzed.
Analytical results of soil samples are summarized on Table 1. Laboratory reports(CTELProject No.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
