The soil samples will be labeled, packaged and stored in an insulated chest for transport
under chain-of-custody manifest to a California Department of Health Services Environmental I
Laboratory Accreditation Program (DHS-ELAP)-certified analytical laboratory.
Soil samples will be labeled with the boring g#, depth, date, time, and initialed. For example B1
1.5, where B 1 is the boring number and 1.5 is the sample depth in meters.
.4.2.2 Grad Groundwater Sample Collection
Following soil sampling activities, a HydropunchTM or equivalent system will be used to collect
groundwater samples from a location adjacent to the Geoprobe° location (approximately one
-meter Q feet).
Discreet groundwater samples will be collected every 1.5 meters (5 feet). Depending on the
I to groundwater and the lithological conditions all discreet groundwater sample intervals
may or may not be collected. The following methods may be used for groundwater collection
and these include the following.
• A new disposable polyethylene or Teflon bailer; or
• A stainless steel bailer. '
Upon completion of soil and grab groundwater sampling, the borings will be backfilled with an
approximately 20:1 cement:bentonite grout. The grout will be placed within the borings from
the bottom following removal of the groundwater sampling equipment.
All drilling and sampling equipment will be washed prior to drilling. In addition, to minimize i
cross-contamination between borings, all appropriate downhole drilling and sampling equipment
will be washed between borings. Soil cuttings and wash water generated during the field
investigation will be placed into 208-liter (55-gallon) drums approved by the United Nations for
transport of liquid and solid wastes, stored in a secure area at the site, and disposed of, if
necessary, under Task 4.
I
Groundwater samples will be labeled with the boring#, depth, date, time, and initialed. For
j example B19— 1.5, where B19 is the boring number and 1.5 is the sample depth in meters. j
The groundwater samples will be labeled, packaged, and stored in an insulated chest for transport
under chain-of-custody manifest to a DHS-ELAP-certified analytical laboratory.
4.3 Laboratory Analysis
Soil and groundwater samples will be submitted for a vertical contaminant extent profile. Up to
20 soil and 20 groundwater samples will be submitted for chemical analysis. The analyses will
SarDP-N:Vanrfpl%ProjrrtA83%335276wlyia&h5pu adiCPT-wkp.doc 4-2
2141W
