1 SECTION 02226 <br /> 3 EMBANKMENT CONSTRUCTION <br /> 4 <br /> 5 <br /> 6 PART 1 : GENERAL <br /> 7 <br /> 6 1.01 DESCRIPTION <br /> s <br /> 10 The work of this section consists of performing excavation and constructing embankments <br /> 11 to form the emergency storage pond and perimeter berms. Disposal of surplus or <br /> 12 unsuitable material is included. <br /> 13 <br /> 14 1.02 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br /> 1s <br /> 16 Evaluation of all fill materials and testing required to determine compliance for the work of <br /> 17 this section will be the responsibility of the Owner and at the Owner's expense. The <br /> 18 Contractor shall cooperate by rerouting equipment or by temporarily closing the immediate <br /> 19 work area being tested. Areas where test results indicate noncompliance shall be corrected <br /> 20 before placing additional backfill. <br /> 21 <br /> 22 1.03 RELATIVE COMPACTION TEST <br /> 23 <br /> za Where relative compaction densities are specified in these specifications, the maximum <br /> 25 density shall be determined in accordance with the latest revision of ANSI/ASTM D1557 and <br /> 26 the actual density of in-place materials shall be determined in accordance with the latest <br /> 27 revision of ANSI/ASTM D2922. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 <br /> 30 PART 2: MATERIALS <br /> 31 <br /> 32 2.01 EMBANKMENTS <br /> 33 <br /> 34 A. Embankments shall be made from on-site soils in designated areas within the upper 10 feet. <br /> 35 Clean sands shall not be used.
