1 2.06 BUTYL SEALING TAPE <br /> 2 <br /> 3 PRC Butyl-Lock sealant type; Morrison & Company's CL-50 "Cushion-Lock" sealing tape, <br /> 4 or equal (3/32-inch by 1-inch). <br /> 5 <br /> 6 <br /> 7 PART 3: EXECUTION <br /> 6 <br /> 9 3.01 GENERAL <br /> 10 <br /> 11 A. Cut edges or joints and abrasions exposing base metal of galvanized sheet metal shall be <br /> 12 coated with solder to equivalent thickness of zinc coating before assembling or installing <br /> 13 sheet metal items. <br /> 14 <br /> 15 B. Wipe all soldered joints clean of flux. Completely neutralize acid fluxes by washing <br /> 16 soldered joints with soda. <br /> n <br /> 18 C. Coat all aluminum surfaces in contact with wood with asphalt primer, and allow to dry <br /> 19 before setting in place. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 D. Coat all metal surfaces in contact with built-up roofing using asphalt bitumen with asphalt <br /> 22 primer, and allow to dry before setting in place. <br /> 23 <br /> 1 24 E. Provide insulation of dissimilar metals from contact with each other with coating of asphalt <br /> 25 primer. <br /> 26 <br /> 27 F. Finish all sheet metal work straight and true, with miters and joints accurately fitted. <br /> 26 Exposed work shall be free of dents. All corners shall be reinforced, and seams soldered <br /> 29 or otherwise made waterproof. Exposed edges shall be hemmed or finished smooth. <br /> 30 <br /> 31 G. All work shall be made watertight. Except where provision is required for expansion and <br /> 32 contraction, all joints and seams shall be locked or otherwise made mechanically strong. <br /> 33 Solder may be used, where appropriate, to make joints and seams watertight, but shall not <br /> ' 34 be considered as providing mechanical strength. <br /> 35 <br /> 36 H. Flashing: Flashing throughout shall be 26 gauge galvanized iron or 20 gauge aluminum. <br /> 37 Unless otherwise shown, flashing shall be at locations indicated on Drawings and as <br /> 3e otherwise required for watertight construction. <br /> 39 <br /> 40 I. Gravel Stops: Shall be galvanized iron or aluminum and provided where indicated on <br /> 41 Drawings. Joints shall be lapped and soldered. The inner flange shall be extended onto <br /> 42 the roof not less than 4" and nailed through the roofing, with nails embedded in plastic <br /> 43 cement. The standing ridges of the gravel stops shall be of sufficient height to hold back <br /> 44 the membrane roof and surfacing. <br /> 45 <br /> 46 J. Downspouts: Downspout sleeves shall be galvanized iron, sizes indicated on Drawings. <br /> 47 Miter and solder at change of direction. <br /> 46 <br /> 49 K. Gutters: Gutters shall be galvanized iron or aluminum, shaped as shown on Drawings. <br /> 50 Miter corners and solder joints. Joints shall be lapped, riveted and soldered.
