' t 3.05 PIPE JOINTS <br /> 2 <br /> 3 A. Copper Tubing: <br /> a <br /> 5 1. Cut square, ream cut end and remove burrs, and clean inside of female fitting to a <br /> 6 bright finish. Apply solder flux with brush to tubing. Apply flux to fitting socket. Remove <br /> 7 internal parts of solder end valves prior to soldering. Assemble. Remove excess flux. <br /> 8 Apply heat and solder. Allow joint to cool. <br /> s <br /> 10 2. Provide dielectric unions at points of connection of copper tubing to ferrous piping and <br /> 11 equipment. <br /> 12 <br /> 13 B. Screwed Piping: Deburr cuts. Do not ream exceeding internal diameter of the pipe. Thread <br /> 14 to requirements of ANSI B2.1. <br /> 15 <br /> 16 C. Leaky Joints: Remake with new material. Remove leaking section and/or fitting as directed. <br /> 17 Do not use thread cement or sealant to tighten joint. <br /> 18 <br /> 19 3.06 SLEEVES AND OPENINGS <br /> 20 <br /> 21 A. Provide sleeves for each pipe passing through walls, partitions, floors, roofs, and ceilings. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 1. Set pipe sleeves in place before concrete is placed. <br /> 24 <br /> zs 2. For uninsulated pipe, provide sleeves two pipe sizes larger than the pipe passing <br /> 26 through, or provide a minimum of 1/2" clearance between inside and outside of the <br /> 27 pipe. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 3. For insulated pipe, provide sleeves of adequate size to accommodate the full thickness <br /> 30 of pipe covering, with clearance for packing and caulking. <br /> 31 <br /> 32 B. Calk the space between sleeve and pipe or pipe covering, using a noncombustible, <br /> 33 permanently plastic, waterproof, non-staining compound which leaves a smooth finished <br /> 34 appearance, or pack with noncombustible fiberglass packing or fiberglass rope to within <br /> 35 1/2" of both wall faces, and provide the waterproof compound described above. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 C. Finish and Escutcheons: <br /> 38 <br /> 39 1. Smooth up rough edges around sleeves with plaster or spackling compound. <br /> ao <br /> 41 2. Provide 1" wide chrome or nickel plated escutcheons on all pipes exposed to view <br /> 42 where passing through walls, floors, partitions, ceilings, and similar locations. Size the <br /> 43 escutcheons to fit pipe and covering. Hold escutcheons in place with set screw. <br /> as <br /> as 3.07 CLEANOUTS <br /> as <br /> 47 A. Secure the Engineer's approval of locations for cleanouts in finished areas prior to <br /> 48 installation. <br /> 49 <br /> 50 B. Provide cleanouts of same nominal size as the pipes they serve. <br /> 51 <br /> 52 C. Make cleanouts accessible.
